Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Pune Police have taken two doctors from the Sassoon General Hospital into custody for allegedly tampering with the blood sample of a 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car crash. The incident, which resulted in the death of two individuals, occurred when the minor, said to be from a prominent real estate family in the city, was driving a Porsche without a number plate on May 19.

Following the crash, the teenager was taken to the Sassoon General Hospital for a medical examination, during which his blood samples were collected around 11 am. Subsequently, the police also obtained the boy’s blood samples for DNA testing later that same day.

During the course of the investigation, authorities discovered that the doctors in question had disposed of the boy’s blood samples in a hospital bin. Another individual’s blood sample was sent to a forensic laboratory to determine alcohol content, as reported by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

Doctors identified and Allegations Made

The doctors arrested have been named as Ajay Taware and Shrihari Harnor. According to Commissioner Kumar, Harnor switched the teenager’s blood samples under the instructions of Taware, who heads the hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department.

As a result of these actions, the minor has been placed in an observation home until June 5. In a controversial move, the Juvenile Justice Board initially granted bail to the teenager, requiring him to write an essay on the crash and assist traffic police for two weeks. However, public outcry led to the cancellation of this bail on May 22.

Legal Ramifications for Family Members

In addition to the minor, his father faced legal consequences for allowing his son to operate a vehicle as a minor. Furthermore, the father was charged under the Juvenile Justice Act for neglecting his son’s wellbeing.

Authorities also considered filing charges against the boy’s father for potential evidence tampering. It was alleged that he attempted to shift blame by portraying an adult as the driver during the crash. CCTV footage from the minor’s residence and eyewitness testimonies supported the claim that the teenager was indeed driving the vehicle.

Moreover, the minor’s grandfather was arrested for purportedly abducting and confining the family driver in an effort to coerce him into taking responsibility for the accident. The driver claimed that he was forcibly held at the family’s home and pressured to falsely claim he was driving the Porsche at the time of the crash.
