A Praveenkumar : "Police Arrest Two, Seize 6kg Ganja in Madurai"

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Madurai: Two individuals were apprehended by Madurai city police for possession of approximately 6 kilograms of ganja near Karimedu on Saturday. The accused had allegedly obtained the illegal substance from Andhra Pradesh.

Following a tip-off, a police squad located two suspects at Arapalayam in Madurai city on Saturday afternoon. As the duo attempted to flee, they were detained, and upon inspecting the two cloth bags they were carrying, authorities discovered 3 kilograms of ganja in each bag. The two men, identified as A Praveenkumar, 28, of Melaponnagaram, and A Kumar, 40, of Usilampatti, confessed to procuring the ganja for distribution to customers.

Karimedu police filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and took the individuals into custody. Further investigation unveiled that Kumar had recently traveled to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh to purchase 8 kilograms of ganja from a supplier. He had already sold 2 kilograms of ganja to a customer in Usilampatti, with the remaining quantity intended for sale to other customers in Arapalayam.

In a separate incident within Madurai city, a 42-year-old woman, identified as M Madha of Thanthai Periyar Nagar in Avaniyapuram, was arrested for allegedly selling ganja to minors. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officers apprehended the woman with 150 grams of ganja in her possession. Avaniyapuram police charged her under sections of the NDPS Act and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.
