The Belagavi rural police have apprehended a 27-year-old man for allegedly threatening a young woman with ‘dire consequences’ if she did not agree to marry him. The accused, identified as Thippanna Dukare (27) from Kinaye village in Belagavi taluk, has been accused of harassing the girl for the past three years, pressuring her into a marriage she did not want.
The victim, in her complaint, claimed that Thippanna had been relentless in his pursuit, creating a hostile environment for her. She stated that he had gone as far as threatening her with the same fate as two other women named Neha and Anjali if she did not comply with his demands.
Despite approaching the Belagavi Rural police with her grievances, the girl alleged that her complaints were dismissed. Frustrated with the lack of action, she sought assistance from Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang, who assured her that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
