Steve : Belgian Arrested for Killing Compatriot

BUENG KAN: A Belgian man, aged 42, has been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering his 49-year-old Belgian acquaintance in the northeastern province of Bueng Kan and disposing of the body near his residence.

Authorities revealed that the suspect, known only as Steve, was apprehended in the neighbouring province of Nakhon Phanom after transporting the victim’s motorcycle on his pickup truck and discarding it in a pond in Ban Phaeng district of Nakhon Phanom on Sunday. He was intercepted by narcotics suppression officers for a routine inspection.

During questioning, Steve allegedly admitted that the motorcycle belonged to a friend whom he had fatally shot at his residence in Seka Tai sub-district of Seka district, Bueng Kan, on Friday.

The suspect claimed that the deceased, identified as Christophe, had persistently demanded money from him. When Steve refused to comply with the request on Friday, Christophe purportedly threatened to harm his family and set his house on fire.

Subsequently, Steve confessed to shooting his compatriot three times with a .22 pistol before incinerating the body in a makeshift pit filled with rubber tyres and branches.
