A couple residing in Mumbai, who were in a live-in relationship, have been taken into custody by authorities for the heinous crime of murdering the woman’s 15-month-old child. The pair then proceeded to file a false report with the police, claiming that the toddler had been kidnapped. The accused man, Rajesh Rana (28), has been remanded to police custody until May 28 following their arrest.
Rajesh Rana and Rinki Das, aged 28 and 23 respectively, are originally from Odisha. The couple relocated to Mumbai around four months ago, with Rinki and her toddler in tow. Both individuals were employed as labourers and resided at a construction site in the Jogeshwari area of the city.
The tragic events leading to their arrest began when the couple approached the authorities with claims of the child’s abduction. However, upon conducting a thorough investigation, it was revealed that Rajesh had brutally assaulted the child, resulting in the toddler’s untimely demise. Subsequently, the couple disposed of the child’s body in a drain near the Aarey Milk Colony.
