Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded at the Hampton Toll Plaza in New Hampshire, resulting in the loss of a Massachusetts man’s life. The New Hampshire State Police confirmed that Nicholas D. Killinger, a 44-year-old resident of Wilbraham, was the victim of a fatal rollover crash that occurred on Saturday evening around 5:40 p.m. The accident took place in the cash lane section of the toll plaza situated along Interstate 95 South in Hampton.
Upon arrival at the scene, responding state troopers discovered Killinger unconscious and trapped inside the 2013 Ford F-250 he was operating. The vehicle had caught fire following the collision. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Killinger succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. Authorities have indicated that he was the sole occupant of the truck at the time of the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Killinger was navigating I-95 South within the cash toll collection area when, for reasons still under scrutiny, he lost control of the vehicle. The truck subsequently collided with a concrete traffic barrier positioned in front of the toll booth in the fifth lane of the toll plaza. The impact caused the truck to rotate before flipping over and coming to rest on its side a short distance beyond the toll booth.
In the aftermath of the crash, all southbound lanes within the cash toll collection area were temporarily shut down for approximately two hours. However, the open road toll lanes remained operational during this period. By 7:55 p.m., all travel lanes at the Hampton Tolls had been reopened, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow.
The State Police have reiterated that a comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the incident is currently underway.
