Man fatally shot in DTLA over catalytic converter theft
Authorities reveal that a man lost his life in a tragic incident when he was shot by a suspect attempting to steal his catalytic converter in downtown Los Angeles.
LOS ANGELES – The victim of a fatal shooting, which occurred on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles, has been identified as Johnny Wactor, a former actor on the popular soap opera “General Hospital,” as per reports from TMZ.
The distressing incident took place in the early hours of Sunday at the intersection of West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Johnny Wactor, aged 37, confronted three suspects who were allegedly trying to steal his vehicle’s catalytic converter and tragically ended up being shot in the process.

Following the shooting, Wactor was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Johnny Wactor has made appearances in popular TV shows such as “Westworld,” “The OA,” “NCIS,” “Station 19,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Hollywood Girl.” However, he is best known for his role as Brando Corbin on “General Hospital” from 2020 to 2022.
At present, law enforcement authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the suspects involved in the incident.
Catalytic converters are a prime target for thieves due to the valuable metals they contain, with platinum being one of them. California alone makes up 37% of catalytic converter theft claims nationwide, with an average of 1,600 converters reported stolen each month, according to the Associated Press.
