Search for Suspect Jimmy I. Williams Jr.

Officer B. Holcomb is currently on the lookout for 26-year-old Jimmy I. Williams Jr. from Halifax. The search began on Saturday, just before 3 a.m., when Holcomb responded to a report of vehicle theft in the vicinity of West Tenth Street. It was reported that Williams had taken a vehicle that belonged to a woman he had been previously involved with.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., Lieutenant M. Hunsucker spotted the stolen vehicle in the same area. Hunsucker tried to stop the vehicle, but Williams made a quick turn into a driveway, abandoned the vehicle, and fled into a densely wooded area.

With the assistance of a canine track by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and its B Squad officers, a handgun that was discarded during the chase was successfully recovered.

Alert: Possible Armed Individual at Chockoyotte Park

On a separate incident, Officer M. Morris and Master Officer K. Williams responded to a concerning report at Chockoyotte Park on Monday at approximately 6 p.m. A member of the public had observed a man walking around the pavilion area with a visibly exposed 30-round magazine outside of a bookbag, raising suspicions of a potential firearm presence.

Given the ongoing recreational activities at the park, the officers swiftly mobilised to the scene.

Anthony Devon Mills

Officer Morris identified the individual as Anthony Devon Mills, aged 33, who was seen heading towards Walmart. Officer Williams managed to intercept Mills as he crossed Premier Boulevard. A search of his person revealed a 30-round magazine in his pocket and the bookbag containing an Airsoft pistol, an unlabelled pill bottle with two plastic baggies containing 2 grams of crack cocaine, 25 Lorazepam pills, and marijuana wrapped in a cigar casing.

Mills has since been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule IV substance, and possession of a Schedule VI substance. His court date is scheduled for July 25.
