Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred in Lewiston on Friday, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old woman named Jessica Carter. The fatal collision took place on South Main Street when Carter, riding a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle, collided with a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle driven by a 15-year-old with a learner’s permit. The teen driver, accompanied by their mother, was attempting to make a turn onto South Main Street from Witham Road when the accident occurred.

According to Auburn deputy chief of police Timothy A. Cougle, the young driver was struggling to handle the manual transmission of the Volkswagen during the turn. Despite Carter’s efforts to swerve and avoid the collision, she ended up hitting the driver’s side of the Volkswagen. Witnesses at the scene administered CPR to Carter, who was wearing a helmet, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

Fortunately, the teenage driver and her mother escaped the accident without serious injuries. The South Main Street intersection was shut down for several hours following the crash as authorities conducted their investigation. Deputy Chief Cougle stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
