JANESVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – A man from southern Wisconsin found himself in a rather unfortunate situation when he was pulled over and arrested twice for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) in the same evening, with the arrests occurring approximately five hours apart.
Double Trouble for Jeffery Janecek
According to a release from the Janesville Police Department, 53-year-old Jeffery Janecek was spotted near Milton Avenue and Blackbridge Road after a witness reported him driving erratically around 5:15 p.m. on May 24.
Janesville officers pulled Janecek over in the 1200 block of North Ringold Street, where he was arrested after allegedly failing standardized field sobriety tests.
[Janecek] was charged with operating while intoxicated 1st offense, which is a traffic forfeiture. A sober, responsible party came to the Janesville Police Department and took custody of Janecek around 6:00 p.m. This is normal procedure for an OWI 1st arrest.

However, the night was far from over for Janecek. Roughly four and a half hours later, a different Janesville officer noticed a vehicle swerving and travelling below the speed limit on Milton Avenue near Mt. Zion Avenue.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, the driver was identified as Janecek, who was allegedly still under the influence of alcohol and had just left a local bar, according to officers.
After failing field sobriety tests once again, Janecek was arrested for the second time and is currently being held at the Rock County Jail due to what officers described as “his continued dangerous behaviour.”
The release stated that Janecek is facing two charges of Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense.
