Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Greeley resident, Eduardo Sotelo-Saucedo, aged 19, has been charged with a drug felony after law enforcement officers discovered him in possession of over 300 counterfeit fentanyl pills outside an apartment complex in the city last month. In addition to the drug-related charges, Sotelo-Saucedo also faces allegations of resisting arrest and obstructing an officer for attempting to evade the authorities while they were trying to detain him. According to the details provided in the arrest warrant, the police had to make multiple unsuccessful attempts to subdue Sotelo-Saucedo using a stun gun before eventually managing to apprehend him.

Incident Details

The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. on April 16 when officers from the Greeley Police Department were conducting patrols near a residential complex in the 100 block of 14th Avenue. During their patrol, an officer observed two individuals walking on the eastern side of the building towards a dirt parking lot. Upon identifying themselves as law enforcement officers and shining a flashlight on the pair, one of the men, who was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood covering his head, immediately sprinted towards a vehicle parked in the lot and fled the scene. The other individual, later identified as Sotelo-Saucedo, remained on the sidewalk and exhibited signs of nervousness and unease when questioned by the officers.

Given the suspicious behaviour of the individuals, the officers decided to further investigate and detain Sotelo-Saucedo for questioning. However, during the process of frisking him, Sotelo-Saucedo attempted to resist and flee by pulling his arms away. Despite the officers’ efforts to restrain him, including the use of a stun gun, Sotelo-Saucedo managed to break free and run. After a brief chase, the authorities were able to apprehend him, during which a green pill bottle containing counterfeit fentanyl pills was discovered in his possession.

Discovery of Contraband

Upon searching Sotelo-Saucedo, the police found a significant quantity of blue M-30 pills suspected to contain fentanyl. The pills were concealed in various containers, including a pill bottle, a scale, and multiple plastic bags. In total, 331 M-30 pills were recovered from Sotelo-Saucedo, along with drug paraphernalia such as empty plastic bags and a meth pipe. Due to safety concerns, the pills were not immediately tested by the officers.

Following his arrest, Sotelo-Saucedo was admitted to the intensive care unit at North Colorado Medical Center due to concerns related to drug consumption. While he was receiving medical treatment, additional pills were found in his possession, leading to further charges being filed against him.

Subsequent Arrest and Legal Proceedings

On May 4, the authorities revisited the apartment complex where Sotelo-Saucedo resided and attempted to take him into custody. Despite initial resistance, Sotelo-Saucedo was eventually apprehended after a brief struggle. Subsequent searches conducted during his arrest led to the discovery of additional contraband, including aluminium foil and a meth pipe.

After being taken to North Colorado Medical Center once again, this time due to an elevated heart rate believed to be linked to drug use, Sotelo-Saucedo was eventually discharged and taken into police custody. He was subsequently booked into the Weld County Jail without further incident and is scheduled to appear for a hearing on June 26 at Weld District Court.
