Accident – Death – Obituary News : Teller County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Burglary in Woodland Park
On Friday, 24th May, around 6:24 p.m., the Teller County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in Woodland Park, located off County Road 21. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Edgar Saenz Lopez, was allegedly attempting to break into a home where occupants were present.
Deputies wasted no time in arriving at the scene and immediately commenced a search for Lopez. The suspect was eventually located behind Safeway, leading to a dramatic foot chase between deputies and Lopez. Despite their efforts, Lopez managed to evade capture in the vicinity of the Little Gem’s Trailer Park.
Throughout the night, a joint effort by Woodland Park and Teller County Deputies was made to locate Lopez, but unfortunately, he remained at large. The Teller County Sheriff’s Office issued a public notice, appealing to anyone with information on Lopez’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in his apprehension.
Finally, on Sunday, 26th May, Lopez was found in the Chipita Park area off Highway 24. He was apprehended without incident and is currently being held in the Teller County Sheriff’s Office Jail. It was revealed that Lopez is currently on parole and is wanted in Teller County for charges including Burglary, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction.
