SHAWNEE COUNTY —Authorities in Topeka are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic homicide of Charles Balocca, a 61-year-old resident of the city, as confirmed by Topeka Police Lieutenant, Ronnie Connell.
On Friday morning, at approximately 11:00 a.m., law enforcement officials received a distressing report regarding an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound in the 100 block of NW U.S. 24 Highway.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders discovered the victim, later identified as Charles Balocca, who had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel present. At this time, the police have refrained from disclosing any details regarding potential suspects involved in the incident.
Lt. Ronnie Connell further stated that this unfortunate event marks the sixth homicide investigation within the city of Topeka this year, highlighting the concerning rise in violent crimes within the community.
