ARLINGTON, Va. – An Arlington police officer had to be hospitalized after being assaulted by a suspect in the early morning hours Sunday.

According to reports from the Arlington Police Department, an officer was working on parking enforcement duty around 1 a.m. on May 26 in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike. The officer encountered a male suspect causing a disturbance and arguing with a security guard at a nearby business.
The officer approached the suspect and gave commands, but the suspect refused to comply. In a sudden turn of events, the suspect forcefully pushed the officer into a parked car, causing damage, and proceeded to physically assault the officer before fleeing the scene.
A search was conducted, and the suspect was apprehended in the vicinity of Columbia Pike and S. Glebe Road by responding officers.
Officer’s Condition and Suspect’s Arrest
The injured officer sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Otis Brown from Waldorf, Md, was taken to a local medical facility for evaluation before being brought into police custody. Brown faces charges of assault on a police officer, aggravated malicious wounding, and destruction of property. He is currently remanded without bail.
