Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A resident of Gillette, William R. Wright, has admitted to shooting arrows at his neighbour’s home and has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in court. The incident took place on May 2, where Wright pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of reckless endangering, destruction of property, and interference with a peace officer, as per court documents.

The felony charge of aggravated assault and battery was reduced to reckless endangering as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. Following his pleas, Wright faced sentencing by District Judge James M. “Mike” Causey, who imposed a jail term of 180 days for reckless endangering, with 160 days suspended. Wright was credited for 16 days served, leaving him with four days to serve, to be split over two weekends, according to court records.

In addition to the jail term, Wright received suspended 180-day sentences, to run consecutively, and will serve 18 months of unsupervised probation. Judge Causey also suspended $1,000 in fines and imposed $600 in other fines and fees on Wright.

The incident leading to Wright’s arrest occurred when a Spanish-speaking woman reported to the police that a man was outside her home, yelling and pointing arrows at her property. The woman witnessed Wright shooting arrows at her home and removing them from the side of the building.

Upon police arrival, Wright initially resisted commands and displayed signs of intoxication. He was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. A search of his home revealed a bow and arrows that matched the ones used in the incident.

Wright admitted to being upset about his neighbour playing loud music but denied using a bow, causing damage with arrows, or pointing a loaded bow at the woman. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level at 0.10%, and it was discovered that he was on probation with alcohol restrictions. Police seized the bow and arrows as evidence.
