Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A Bucks County man, Tamir Phillips, 24, from Bensalem, has been handed a 30-year prison sentence for the murder of 14-year-old Jesse Everett of Willingboro. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Phillips will not be eligible for parole under this sentence.
Phillips was found guilty at trial of fatally shooting Everett in August 2021. The tragic incident took place at a Phillips 66 gas station located on the first block of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Mount Holly.
According to the investigation, the car in which Everett was found had been reported stolen just one day before the shooting. It was revealed that Phillips had been frequently using the car with the owner’s permission and had been searching for it.
Phillips encountered Everett at the gas station and fatally shot him in the head, resulting in the teenager’s death later that day. Fortunately, the three passengers who were in the car with Everett at the time of the incident escaped unharmed.
“Phillips, who was known to frequent Willingboro, was quickly identified as a suspect in the case,” stated the prosecutor’s office. Charges were swiftly filed against him the following day.
The sentencing for the murder and weapons offenses was carried out on May 24 by Superior Court Judge Terrence R. Cook in Mount Holly.
