THANE: A 26-year-old man, identified as Sunny Sunil Singh, has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering his friend, Santosh Yadav, in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, due to professional rivalry, according to police reports on Saturday.
The police made a grim discovery earlier this month when they found a highly decomposed body in a nullah. Subsequent investigations revealed the deceased to be Santosh Yadav, who worked as an agent supplying junior artists at a studio in Navi Mumbai, as confirmed by senior inspector Jitendra Vankoti of Pelhar police station.
Following a post-mortem examination that indicated Yadav had succumbed to head injuries, a murder case was registered, stated the official.
During the investigation, Yadav’s girlfriend provided crucial information to the police, mentioning that she had last seen him in the company of two friends who were also employed in the same field. This led the police to focus on the accused, Sunny Sunil Singh and Rahul Sohan Pal. Singh was successfully apprehended on May 14, while the search for Pal is still ongoing, the official added.
The motive behind the crime, according to the official, was that the accused had lost a significant contract to the victim, which had angered them.
