A 26-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly bludgeoning his friend to death in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The incident, stemming from professional rivalry, has shocked the local community.
The victim, identified as Santosh Yadav, was found in a highly decomposed state in a nullah earlier this month. Yadav, who worked as an agent supplying junior artists, was last seen with two friends who also worked in the same field.
During the investigation, Yadav’s girlfriend mentioned that the victim had lost a big contract to the accused and that they were visibly angry. The accused, Sunny Sunil Singh and Rahul Sohan Pal, allegedly invited Yadav for drinks on May 7. They then took him to a bridge at Nalla Sopara and brutally bludgeoned him to death with a stone.
The police were able to apprehend Sunny Sunil Singh on May 14, but Rahul Sohan Pal remains at large. A murder case has been registered, and the authorities are actively searching for the second suspect.
The victim’s body underwent a post-mortem examination which revealed that he had died from severe head injuries. Yadav, who worked at a studio in Navi Mumbai, was well-known in the industry for his work ethic and dedication.
