Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 17-year-old boy, employed at a jeweller’s shop in Koparkhairane, has been charged along with his employer for causing injury to a pedestrian by riding a scooter without a valid license.

The employer faces charges for allowing the underage employee to operate the scooter despite being aware of his lack of a driving license. The incident, which occurred on May 22, was reported by the injured party, identified as 48-year-old Pradeep Narayan Vadgujar, prompting the police to take action.

Vadgujar, who owns a hardware store near Shankar Mandir Chowk in Rabale, was struck by the scooter while exiting his parked vehicle, resulting in a fracture to his right leg. The severity of the injuries necessitated surgery, leading to a delay in filing the complaint.

Upon discovering that the rider was a minor, Vadgujar promptly reported the matter to the authorities. In response, the police swiftly registered a case against both the underage boy and the owner of the scooter, 31-year-old Rahul Sharma.

Following a recent tragedy in Pune involving a minor driving a Porsche that resulted in fatalities, the Navi Mumbai police are actively enforcing restrictions on underage driving. In light of this, both the minor rider and the owner who permitted him to operate the vehicle without a license have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Motor Vehicle Act, and Juvenile Justice Act.
