Des Moines police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred late on Friday night as 47-year-old Parrah Ngar, a resident of Des Moines. The incident took place near the 3900 block of 12th Street at 11:53 p.m. when Ngar was struck by a 52-year-old male driver who was also a resident of Des Moines. Ngar sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash has been identified as 52-year-old Lwin Myint. The vehicle, a 2003 Honda Accord, struck Ngar before leaving the roadway and colliding with a house on the east side of the road. Myint has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle – Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) as evidence gathered at the scene indicated that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Myint will be held in the Polk County Jail as the investigation continues.

The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the sequence of events leading up to the tragic collision. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
