A tragic incident unfolded in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Friday as a 14-year-old boy lost his life after falling from a litchi tree. The young boy, identified as Dilip Debbarma, had climbed the tree with the intention of picking some ripe litchis.
Dilip’s father, Kiran Debbarma, shared that his son, along with a group of children, had ventured up the tree near his school in search of the delicious fruits. Unfortunately, Dilip fell from the tree during the expedition but managed to make his way back home on his own.
As a precautionary measure, Dilip was promptly taken to Bishramganj hospital for medical treatment, where an X-ray was conducted to assess the extent of his injuries. Subsequently, he was referred to GB Hospital for further care, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The loss of Dilip, a Class nine student, has left the community in mourning. A police case has been registered in connection with the incident, and following a post-mortem examination, the boy’s body was released to his grieving family.
