Accident – Death – Obituary News :

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mexican authorities have extradited a key member of the Sinaloa drug cartel, Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, also known as “El Nini,” to the United States to face charges related to drug trafficking, gun crimes, and witness intimidation, the Justice Department announced on Saturday.

Role in the Cartel

El Nini is believed to have been a prominent figure within the Sinaloa cartel, responsible for overseeing security operations for the sons of the incarcerated drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. He played a crucial role in facilitating the cartel’s drug trafficking activities, particularly in the distribution of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid linked to tens of thousands of overdose deaths in the US annually.

Charges and Allegations

According to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Pérez Salas was involved in heinous crimes including murder, torture, and abduction of rivals and witnesses who posed a threat to the cartel’s criminal enterprises. His extradition marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to dismantle the operations of the Sinaloa cartel and combat the proliferation of dangerous drugs like fentanyl.

Extradition and Thanks

President Joe Biden expressed gratitude to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for facilitating the extradition of Pérez Salas, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the two nations in combating the illicit drug trade. The joint efforts aim to address the fentanyl crisis that continues to claim lives in both countries and globally.

Ninis Security Team

El Nini commanded a security unit known as the Ninis, described as a highly violent group that provided protection to the Chapitos. The Ninis underwent intensive military-style training, including urban warfare tactics and sniper proficiency, making them a formidable force within the cartel’s operations.

Gruesome Acts

Authorities allege that Pérez Salas and his accomplices engaged in brutal acts of violence, including the torture of a Mexican federal agent in 2017. The indictment revealed disturbing details of the torture, such as inserting a corkscrew into the victim’s muscles and inflicting further harm with hot chilies.

Execution Methods

The Ninis were reportedly involved in executing captured rivals, with some victims allegedly fed to tigers owned by the Chapitos on their ranches. These gruesome acts highlight the extreme violence and ruthlessness associated with the operations of the Sinaloa cartel and its affiliated groups.

As the legal proceedings against Pérez Salas unfold in the U.S., the extradition of key cartel members like him underscores the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and hold accountable those responsible for perpetuating the devastating consequences of the illicit drug trade.
