Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man was taken into custody on Thursday after allegedly trailing a family from Texas to Oklahoma and firing shots due to a mistaken belief that his wife was inside their vehicle.

Reports from the McClain County Sheriff’s Office indicated that deputies were called to the Blanchard area following a potential road rage incident involving gunfire at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Officers from the Blanchard Police Department intercepted the vehicle in question, and subsequently assisted until deputies arrived at the scene.

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement discovered an adult male who was armed. Further investigation revealed that the incident was not a result of road rage.

The family in the vehicle, consisting of a woman, a man, and two children under the age of two, were en route from Texas to Tuttle to visit relatives and friends.

The suspect, identified as Michael Young, initially spotted the family in Texas and erroneously believed that his wife was among them. He proceeded to tail them all the way to Oklahoma.

Authorities were informed that the family was unaware of being followed until they reached McClain County, at which point they exited I-35 in an attempt to evade the suspect.

According to the MCSO, the suspect aggressively pursued the family, engaging in high-speed pursuits, dangerous manoeuvres such as swerving into oncoming traffic, cutting off the family’s vehicle, ramming into their car, and even firing shots at them as they entered the Blanchard area.

Fortunately, the family managed to escape unscathed.

Young was apprehended by deputies without further trouble and subsequently charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon, using a firearm while committing a felony, stalking, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
