Doug Thompson : Floyd, Christiansburg Students Mob Charges: Legal Battle Ahead

The incidents revolved around students from Christiansburg High School who travelled to Floyd to address a dispute regarding a student at their school dating someone from Floyd County High School.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Eric Branscom revealed that after an initial confrontation on May 8, where the Christiansburg students were outnumbered and eventually dispersed, tensions escalated on social media platforms leading to a second clash on May 9 at the same location.

Video evidence presented in court showed chaotic scenes of physical altercations, with over 20 students from both schools involved in the mayhem. Despite the presence of law enforcement officers, injuries including a shoulder injury and foot injury were reported.

Branscom confirmed that more than 20 juveniles have been arraigned in District and Juvenile Courts, with adult defendants set to appear in Circuit Court in the coming months. One of the parents involved, Chelsea Nicole Price, was denied bail by Judge Mike Fleenor.

Branscom emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating that all those involved will be held accountable for their actions. He warned that further arrests may follow as investigations continue.

Judge Fleenor reiterated the need for accountability, stressing that individuals must take responsibility for their involvement in violent acts.

The incidents have sparked concern within the community, with authorities emphasising that such behaviour will not be tolerated in Floyd County.
