Kochi: A 52-year-old man, identified as Dileep, was discovered deceased in a waterbody close to Puthuvype beach early on Saturday morning. Dileep, a resident of Puthuvype and a fisherman by profession, had gone to set up fishing nets on Friday night but was found dead the following morning.

Despite the fact that individuals were casting fishing nets in the waterbody near the beach, authorities from the Mulavukad police department stated that the water was not deep enough for a person to drown. The circumstances surrounding Dileep’s death remain unclear, with a police officer suggesting that he may have succumbed to health issues while fishing on Friday night before falling into the water.

An autopsy was conducted to determine the exact cause of death, and the police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The body was subsequently handed over to Dileep’s family members following the completion of the autopsy.

In a related incident, two individuals from the same family tragically drowned while fishing in Karnataka. Harish Poojary, aged 48, and his nephew Rithesh, aged 18, lost their lives in the Swarna River at Shirlalu in Karkala taluk. The Ajekar police station in Nitte is currently investigating the matter.

Additionally, two labourers lost their lives in a separate incident at Brahmari Mariparapu Pade due to negligence on the part of the driver, identified as Kumar. The authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event as well.
