Thane Crime Branch Apprehends 24-Year-Old Man with Illicit Firearms

THANE: In a recent operation, the Thane crime branch successfully apprehended a 24-year-old man and seized two country-made pistols, along with four bullets and four magazines from his possession. The accused, identified as Dhananjay Kumar Singh, hails from Majhaulia in Bihar.

The police intercepted the accused around 1.30 pm on Thursday near Teen Hath Naka and conducted a thorough search. During the search, the authorities discovered the two country-made pistols, along with the ammunition, in his possession.

Vikas Ghodke, the senior inspector of the crime branch unit-5, stated, “When our staff asked him to provide any official documentation regarding the firearms, he denied having any and failed to provide satisfactory answers.” Subsequently, the sleuths proceeded to arrest him.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Wagle estate police station under section 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, along with other relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act. Ghodke mentioned, “We are currently interrogating him to ascertain the purpose behind his possession of the firearms and whether he intended to commit any criminal offence. Additionally, we are investigating any potential prior criminal activities or criminal records associated with him.”
