Accident – Death – Obituary News : A bank manager colleague of a woman whose body was found in a Nilgiri grove in Muthukadahalli village in Bengaluru 11 years ago has been arrested along with two others by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Karnataka Police. The case, which had initially been closed by the local police, resurfaced in 2013 when the victim’s husband, a bank employee, reported his wife missing. The 44-year-old victim, who worked as an executive assistant at a private firm in Bengaluru, never returned home from work, prompting her husband to file a police complaint.
The local police initially arrested the husband as a suspect in the murder, but later released him after concluding that he was not involved. The case was then closed with a final report ‘C’. Unsatisfied with the outcome, the victim’s husband sought justice through the Karnataka High Court, which ordered a CID probe into the matter.
The CID investigation identified a suspect named Deepak Chanappa, who was found to be connected to the crime. Further inquiries led the CID to the branch manager of the Mahalakshmi Layout unit of the bank where the victim’s husband worked. The CID discovered that the bank manager, along with an accomplice named Hariprasad S, had “gang-raped and murdered” the victim.
In a statement released on Friday, the CID highlighted the complexity of the case and the meticulous collection of technical and scientific evidence. A charge sheet has been submitted against the three accused individuals, detailing the heinous crime they are alleged to have committed.
“The local police had closed the case without finding the perpetrators. Through diligent investigative work, the CID managed to uncover the truth and hold the accused accountable,” the CID stated.
The breakthrough in the long-dormant case underscores the importance of thorough investigation and the pursuit of justice. The victim’s family can now find closure knowing that those responsible for her tragic death are being brought to justice..
