A driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a tragic incident in Fort Worth, where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to police reports.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Alexia Monica Lopez, was taken into custody and booked into the Fort Worth jail at 1:20 a.m., as indicated by online jail records. It remains unclear whether she has legal representation at this time.

Law enforcement officers were alerted to a major collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Northwest 28th Street and Prospect Avenue just before 12:30 a.m.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the victim, a woman who was walking in traffic, was struck by the vehicle. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 55-year-old Rosa Ana Barron, according to online records from the Tarrant County medical examiner.

Detectives are currently conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with the aim of gathering all relevant evidence and information.
