Mumbai: Tragedy struck at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, commonly known as Sion Hospital, as a senior citizen passed away after being hit by a speeding vehicle inside the civic hospital in central Mumbai, a police official confirmed on Saturday.
The unfortunate incident took place on the hospital premises, resulting in the immediate demise of the victim, who has been identified as a woman. However, her identity is yet to be confirmed, as per the official from Sion police station.
“Preliminary information indicates that the woman was struck by a car, but we are awaiting the hospital’s statement before initiating any legal action,” he stated. The official mentioned that they have gathered evidence indicating that the woman’s death was a result of a car accident on the hospital grounds.

Another Incident in Nagpur
In a separate incident, three individuals, including a child, sustained injuries after a speeding car collided with them in the Zenda Chowk area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station in Nagpur on Friday evening, confirmed the police. Subsequent to the incident, three individuals, including the reckless driver, have been taken into custody.
The injured individuals comprise a woman, a three-year-old child, and another person. The authorities have arranged for a medical examination of the suspects, and the process of registering a case is underway. Following the accident, the enraged crowd vandalised the vehicle.
Gorakh Bhamre, DCP of Nagpur, elaborating on the incident, stated, “A woman, her child, and another individual sustained injuries after a speeding car collided with them around 8:30 pm in the Zenda Chowk area under the Kotwali Police Station. The public apprehended one of the suspects. Police have detained three young individuals and the car driver in connection with the case. Liquor bottles and narcotics were discovered in the vehicle. Medical tests are being conducted on the suspects, and a case is being registered.”
