Thomas Konvalin : “California Man Kills Parents, Shot by Deputies”

A tragic incident unfolded in Sacramento County on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a California man following a three-hour standoff with sheriff’s deputies. The incident began when the man’s mother called 911 to report that she had been shot.

Law enforcement officials from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Rancho Cordova Police Department swiftly responded to the scene at approximately 1:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive woman outside the home’s front door. The man, later identified as 38-year-old Thomas Konvalin, was seen in the doorway.

Despite repeated orders from the officers, Konvalin refused to cooperate and instead barricaded himself inside the residence. Tragically, the woman was confirmed dead, and efforts to establish communication with Konvalin proved unsuccessful.

After three hours of limited phone interactions with the suspect, officers decided to approach the home with an armored vehicle. At that point, Konvalin exited through a rear window while carrying a rifle. Deputies opened fire, shooting him three times, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon further investigation inside the residence, officers discovered the bodies of Konvalin’s elderly parents, 69-year-old Marylou Konvalin and 72-year-old William Konvalin. It is believed that Konvalin shot his parents before the standoff ensued.

The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending a thorough investigation into the tragic incident.
