FORT WORTH, Texas – An arrest warrant affidavit obtained by FOX 4 is revealing new details in the murder of a Lyft driver in Fort Worth.

The documents mention a female passerby who witnessed the brutal killing of Shawali Sherali.

The woman told FOX 4 that she bravely stayed with the victim until emergency services arrived on the scene.

Thursday, floral tributes laid next to a damaged fence serve as a poignant reminder of where Sherali, a devoted husband and father of two, lost his life.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Michael Walker remains in custody at Tarrant County Jail, facing a capital murder charge.

According to Fort Worth police, surveillance footage captured Walker viciously attacking Sherali in broad daylight before making off with his vehicle.

Details outlined in the arrest warrant affidavit obtained by FOX 4 suggest that Sherali picked up a passenger from Knox Street in Fort Worth on May 17 at approximately 11:20 a.m.

A mere 15 minutes later, law enforcement were called to an apartment complex near Sandy Lane and Brentwood Stair Road.

A witness informed authorities that a silver Camry had crashed into a fence at the scene.

The witness then saw a tall individual, later identified as Walker, forcibly removing an injured individual from the driver’s seat and driving away in the stolen vehicle.

Authorities later discovered the abandoned Camry in the rear of the apartment complex parking lot.

Review of the dash camera footage revealed a man with distinctive underwear and a unique hairstyle shooting Sherali multiple times from behind in the backseat.

After the heinous act, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and callously remarked, “I had to put a little air in it, bro. Go get the body.”

On May 18, an officer apprehended Walker in east Fort Worth after observing him urinating and holding a beer bottle.

Walker’s criminal history includes repeated arrests in both Harris County and Tarrant County over the past decade for offences such as assaulting a peace officer, domestic violence, and drug possession.

Noorali Noor, Sherali’s elder brother, expressed his outrage at the situation, stating, “Individuals like this should be kept behind bars. They have no right to walk free and take the life of an innocent person.”

In an interview with FOX 4, Noor reflected on their family’s move to North Texas from Afghanistan in 2021 to escape the Taliban.

“When you come from a country like Afghanistan to a safer place like America, where you hope for a better future for yourself and your family, and then face such a tragic incident,” Noor lamented.

Police noted that Walker had bloodstains on his clothing at the time of his arrest.

Furthermore, officers discovered a handgun in his possession that matched the caliber of the weapon used in the fatal shooting.
