Priscillah, who works in the Gulf, entrusted her younger sister, Celine, with the care of her primary school-going kids. However, she is dismayed to discover that Celine is misusing the money sent for the upkeep of the children.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Priscillah revealed that she sends her entire salary back home to support her kids, aged nine and twelve, who live with her sister in Mtwapa, Mombasa county. Unfortunately, Celine is reportedly using the funds for her own enjoyment, neglecting the basic needs of the children.
“My sister lives in Mtwapa, Mombasa county, with my kids. Our dad passed away and left us with my mum,” Priscillah explained. “When I send her money, she just uses it to party and leaves my children in the house to starve. As we speak, my children are in the house because they do not have books and pens to use in school. She went away for three days and left them all alone; they are telling me that hunger will kill them in that house,” she added.
The situation has left Priscillah in a state of helplessness, as she worries about her children’s well-being and education. Her son, who is in Class Six, is unable to attend school due to a lack of funds for school fees and supplies. With the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams approaching, the mother is distraught over her inability to provide for her son’s education.
“I have been crying and crying; I can’t believe my own blood can do this to me,” Priscillah lamented. Despite her efforts to reach out to Celine for an explanation, her sister’s phone remains switched off.
