In a tragic turn of events, the grandparents of 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller, the young girl from Boone County, West Virginia, who was found dead in a bathroom in an emaciated state, are now facing charges in connection to her death.
Donna Sue Stone, 76, and Jerry Carter Stone, 75, have been charged with child neglect resulting in death. They are currently being held on a bond of $25,000, which can be posted as property or 10% cash.
The mother of the deceased girl, Julie Miller, had previously waived her preliminary hearing in April. She was taken into custody after her teenage daughter, identified as 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller by a family member, was discovered deceased in a bathroom, severely malnourished to the point of being skeletal, as detailed in a criminal complaint.
The complaint revealed that Kyneddi had reportedly only been outside twice in the span of four years and had not attended school since either 2019 or 2020.
It was noted in the complaint that Kyneddi exhibited clear and distinct physical signs of neglect, indicating that her mother had failed to seek help for her for at least four years, ultimately leading to her tragic demise.
Charges and Bond Amounts
Julie Miller is facing charges of child neglect resulting in death, according to the complaint. She is currently being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a bond of $250,000.
Neighbours who spoke to NewsNation affiliate WOWK anonymously expressed their shock at the severity of the situation. They mentioned witnessing state police conducting alleged wellness checks at the residence.
Although neighbours acknowledged knowing the grandparents and viewed them as respected members of the community, they claimed to have been unaware of any neglect or abuse occurring in the household. They speculated that the sudden weight loss experienced by Kyneddi was unexpected and believed that the family had intentions to seek help for her.
