CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A tragic incident unfolded in northeast Charlotte as a 14-year-old boy was discovered lifeless in the woods on Wednesday, prompting a murder investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. The authorities revealed on Friday that another teenager has been charged with the murder of the young victim, identified as Jonathan Woods.

The grim discovery was made when CMPD officers rushed to the 200 block of Ann Elizabeth Drive at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, in response to a distress call for medical assistance. Upon arrival, the officers stumbled upon the lifeless body of Jonathan Woods, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an initial investigation, a 16-year-old suspect was identified and subsequently apprehended. The suspect has been charged with the murder of Jonathan Woods.

Upon the discovery of the crime scene, the Homicide Unit detectives were summoned to conduct a thorough investigation, while the Crime Scene Search team meticulously combed through the area to gather physical evidence.

This tragic incident occurred mere hours after a separate shooting and stabbing incident on Charidge Lane off University City Boulevard, which left two individuals critically injured.
