A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai’s Mazgaon area on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old man named Irfan Nawab Ali Shaikh. The fatal accident took place when a minor, aged 15, allegedly hit Shaikh with his motorcycle.
Shaikh sustained severe injuries from the collision and was rushed to JJ Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment. The Mumbai Police have confirmed that the minor involved in the accident has been sent to a juvenile home.
Following the incident, the authorities detained the minor along with his father. A case has been registered against them under section 304(2) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The police have initiated further investigations into the matter.

The lawyer representing the accused minor stated that the Juvenile Justice Board will determine whether the teenager should be tried as an adult for the offence. According to the lawyer, the Juvenile Justice Act outlines procedures for assessing whether the accused should be treated as a minor or an adult, which typically takes around 90 days to complete.
During a media briefing, Prashant Patil, the lawyer, explained that the Juvenile Justice Board closely monitors the assessments and reports before making a decision on the minor’s legal status. The accused minor will undergo further investigation and evaluation before a final decision is reached.
