ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)—The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended and charged a man for reportedly kidnapping a minor on Monday, May 20.
According to Sheriff Kyle Moore, county dispatch received a distress call from a female at 3:51 a.m. seeking assistance at the LOVES Truck Stop on Winterberry Ave in Covington. Responding deputies and Virginia State Police personnel discovered a dark grey four-door sedan with an Arkansas registration, a man, and an underage female, who was identified as the individual who reached out for help.
Upon further investigation, deputies ascertained that the female hails from Louisiana and was allegedly being held against her will.
The suspect, identified as Diego Soch Castro, was taken into custody and transferred to Alleghany County Regional Jail, where warrants were issued and served for:
- Abduction
- Indecent Liberties with a Minor
- Assault and Battery
The sheriff’s office has confirmed that an ICE detainer has been placed on the accused individual.
Following the incident, the juvenile female was transported to Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital for a thorough evaluation and subsequently released into the care of child protective services.
