Man Convicted of Robbing Poker Player After Big Win

ATLANTIC CITY – A New Jersey man was recently found guilty of committing robbery against a poker player whom he had befriended following a successful $20,000 hand at an Atlantic City casino.

Officials state that 51-year-old Robert Reed was seated at a poker table within the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in March 2023 when he struck up a conversation with the victim after witnessing his significant win.

The next day, Reed allegedly spotted the victim checking out of the hotel and requested a lift, claiming to have missed his bus.

While walking towards the parking garage, it is alleged that Reed used a glass wine bottle to strike the victim on the head before stealing from him.

The victim, known only as D.H., sustained multiple head injuries as a result of the attack.

Law enforcement managed to identify Reed through footage from the hotel’s surveillance system and details from his player card.

A resident of Newark, Reed was convicted on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing in July.
