Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Following a tragic head-on collision outside Charlottetown in December that claimed four lives, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have clarified that the deceased 30-year-old man was actually the driver of one of the vehicles involved.

Initially, police had identified the deceased man as a passenger in a pickup truck that collided with an oncoming car in the community of Marshfield, P.E.I., on Dec. 8. The collision resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman, both 18, and a male youth who were in the car. Additionally, a teenage boy in the car sustained serious injuries. A 20-year-old man, who was initially believed to be the driver of the truck, was also injured in the crash and subsequently arrested.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Gavin Moore stated in a news release that the investigation into the crash was extensive, involving traffic reconstruction, search warrants, production orders, lab analysis, and medical records.

Based on independent witness accounts and corroborating physical evidence, the RCMP now believe that the 30-year-old man who tragically died in hospital was indeed the driver of the truck. The investigation also revealed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the fatal crash.

Cpl. Moore expressed his condolences, stating, “This incident is one of the most tragic collisions Islanders have seen in some time, and our hearts go out to the families of the victims.”
