A 46-year-old Wisconsin man, identified as Brent Paul, was taken into custody in Wyocena on Friday following an animal welfare complaint that led to authorities discovering he had violated his bond conditions by consuming alcoholic beverages.

Deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the town of Wyocena after receiving the complaint. Upon making contact with Paul, it was revealed that he had several open cases with felony bond conditions that prohibited him from consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages.

During the interaction with Paul, the deputy noticed signs of impairment and observed him passing alcoholic beverages. As a result, the deputy attempted to take him into custody for violating his bond conditions. However, Paul resisted and engaged in a physical struggle with the deputy. Backup was called, and after several minutes of resistance, a Taser was deployed to facilitate his arrest without further incident.
