Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The daughter and son-in-law of Missouri House of Representatives member Ben Baker were tragically killed while serving as missionaries in Haiti, the politician revealed in a heartfelt social media post.

Baker’s daughter, Natalie Lloyd, and her husband Davy Lloyd, were dedicated full-time missionaries in the country, according to the Republican state representative.

The devastating incident occurred when the couple was viciously attacked by gangs on Thursday evening in the Lizon area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city.

Expressing his profound grief, Baker shared that his heart was shattered into a thousand pieces by the tragic loss of his loved ones.

“I’ve never experienced this level of pain before,” Baker expressed, urging for prayers for both families and acknowledging that words fail to capture the depth of his sorrow at this time.

Missions in Haiti, Inc. Confirms the Tragic Loss

Missions in Haiti, Inc., a non-profit organisation based in Oklahoma that has been actively involved in humanitarian work in Haiti since 2000, provided additional details on the heartbreaking incident in a social media post.

The organisation confirmed that the Lloyds, along with a third missionary identified as Jude, were fatally shot while seeking refuge in a house around 9 p.m. local time on Thursday.

Haiti’s National Police Union verified that Jude was a Haitian national and the director of an orphanage in the region.

“We are all devastated by this tragic loss,” Missions in Haiti expressed, while refraining from further comments at this time.

US State Department Response

The US State Department acknowledged the reports of the deaths of American citizens in Haiti, but refrained from providing additional details out of respect for the grieving families during this difficult period.

Escalating Violence in Haiti

Haiti has been grappling with escalating gang violence since late February, when heavily-armed gangs launched a coordinated attack on government institutions and infrastructure in the country.

The US government has facilitated evacuation flights for American citizens amidst the unrest. Tragically, more than 2,500 individuals have been killed, injured, or abducted in Haiti since the onset of the violence, with deadly incidents reaching a record high, as reported by the United Nations.

Recent developments in Haiti include the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry last month, with a new transitional council being sworn in to address the ongoing challenges faced by the nation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.
