PUNE: Following the tragic incident in which two IT professionals lost their lives after being hit by a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old, the Pune city police have taken a step forward in the investigation. The authorities questioned the teenager’s grandfather on Thursday in connection with the horrific hit-and-run incident that took place in Kalyani Nagar on May 19.
The young IT professionals, Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia from Madhya Pradesh, were riding a bike when they were struck by the teen driving the sports car, resulting in their untimely deaths. The Mumbai Crime Branch, responsible for probing the case, has summoned the grandfather of the accused teen for questioning along with the boy’s father. Additionally, the teen’s driver and friend have also been called in to provide insights into the events leading up to the tragic accident.
During the interrogation, all parties involved were questioned together by a high-ranking officer. It has been revealed that the police are looking to involve the driver as a witness in the case. On the night of the incident, the accused had initially asked the driver to take the passenger seat, but later, upon instructions from his father, the teen ended up behind the wheel of the Porsche.
The authorities have confiscated the mobile phone of the accused teen’s father to examine his call records for further clues. Following the questioning session, the grandfather has been asked to return for further interrogation by the Crime Branch. Meanwhile, the teen’s father, along with the bar owners and manager, who are currently in police custody, are facing intense questioning as their custody term approaches expiration on Friday. They will be presented before a court to determine if an extension of custody is necessary for more leads in the case. (ANI)
