Startling details of the gruesome murder

The accused, Jihad Hawladar, is said to be an illegal immigrant residing in Mumbai. Reports from NDTV suggest that the mastermind behind the murder is Anar’s friend, Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen.

Sources from News18 claim that Hawladar, originally from Khulna district in Bangladesh, was brought to Kolkata two months prior to the incident by Akhtaruzzaman, who orchestrated the heinous crime.

According to the investigative findings, it is suspected that the MP was lured into a New Town flat by a woman and subsequently murdered by contract killers.

Police investigations suggest that Anar may have fallen into a trap set by a woman, who had close ties to his friend. The official mentioned that the MP was likely enticed into the New Town flat by the woman and subsequently murdered.

The CID is currently reviewing CCTV footage showing Anar entering the flat with a man and a woman. Hawladar, the main suspect, confessed during interrogation that he, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, strangled Anar at the flat under Akhtaruzzaman’s orders.

“Following the murder, the perpetrators dismembered and skinned the body, minced the flesh, and disposed of the remains in various locations around Kolkata,” sources from News18 revealed.

Further investigations based on CCTV footage showed the two accomplices exiting the flat with a large trolley suitcase, presumably containing the victim’s remains.

The detained suspect will appear in court, where authorities will seek remand to verify his statement and locate the missing body parts.

Anar, who went missing on 13 May, was discovered deceased, with three individuals arrested in connection to the case, as confirmed by Bangladesh home minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

The Bengal CID has taken over the investigation from the West Bengal Police, as Anar’s body is yet to be fully recovered.

Evidence collected by the CID includes blood stains within the New Town flat and multiple plastic bags believed to have been used for disposing of body parts.

Initial investigations

Preliminary findings indicate that Anar’s close friend, a US citizen, allegedly paid a substantial sum to those involved in the crime. The friend, who owns a flat in Kolkata, is currently believed to be in the US.

Authorities mentioned that the flat in New Town, where Anar was last seen, was rented out to his friend by an employee of the excise department.

“This was a meticulously planned murder. An old acquaintance of the MP reportedly paid around Rs 5 crore to the contract killers to carry out the crime. Further inquiries are ongoing,” stated a senior police officer.

The search for the missing MP commenced after Gopal Biswas, a resident of Baranagar in north Kolkata and an acquaintance of Anar, filed a complaint with the local police upon Anar’s sudden disappearance.

Anar had stayed at Biswas’s residence upon his arrival in Kolkata, and Biswas raised concerns when Anar failed to return home on 17 May.
