A suspect has been apprehended and accused of open murder in connection with the tragic demise of a 54-year-old Incline Village resident, Jeffrey McCunn. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Alec Flores, was taken into custody following an extensive investigation conducted by detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest was executed by members of the Regional Crime Suppression Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service, culminating in the apprehension of Flores as the prime suspect in the June 2023 incident.

The incident transpired on the night of June 23rd last year, prompting a response from Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were dispatched to a residence on Hazel Court in Incline Village. Upon arrival, deputies and medical personnel discovered the lifeless body of Jeffrey McCunn inside the property.

Subsequently, detectives assumed control of the investigation, with concurrent inquiries conducted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigation Section and the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to unravel the circumstances surrounding McCunn’s untimely demise.

During the course of their investigation, Sheriff’s Office detectives pinpointed Alec Flores as a person of interest in the case. An arrest warrant was consequently issued for Flores on May 14th of this year by the Incline Village-Crystal Bay Township Justice Court.

On Thursday, May 23rd, Flores was located in Reno and apprehended without resistance. He was subsequently transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he is currently detained on the charge of open murder with a deadly weapon enhancement.
