Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 45-year-old woman from Denton is currently facing a murder charge in connection with a fentanyl overdose that resulted in the death of a man to whom she allegedly sold drugs. The Denton Police Department announced on Tuesday that Ryan Michelle Warner has been charged following an investigation into a fatal overdose incident. The incident took place on March 25, when officers responded to a report of an unconscious individual in an encampment located in the 1900 block of Brinker Road, near State Highway Loop 288.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Shaun Cross, was pronounced dead at the scene. A report from the Tarrant County medical examiner determined that his cause of death was due to fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity. Subsequent investigations by police detectives revealed evidence suggesting that Warner had sold narcotics containing fentanyl to Cross prior to his death. As a result, Warner was arrested on Tuesday on a murder warrant in the 800 block of West Hickory Street. She is currently in Denton County custody, with her bail set at $500,000.

This arrest marks the fourth case in which individuals have been arrested on murder charges in connection with fentanyl overdoses. In September, Texas authorities were granted the authority to pursue murder charges against individuals accused of illegally manufacturing or distributing fentanyl following the implementation of a new law.

Warner’s case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with the distribution and consumption of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid that has been responsible for a growing number of overdose deaths across the country. The tragic outcome of this incident underscores the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat the illicit drug trade and hold those responsible for such deaths accountable.

As the investigation into this case continues, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking in their communities. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community is crucial in the fight against drug-related crimes and the prevention of further tragedies like the one that claimed the life of Shaun Cross.
