Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of the utility worker, identified as Ramzan Daraev, 35, who was a subcontractor for Utilities One. Daraev, who was not wearing any identification or uniform, succumbed to a gunshot wound.
The shooter, a Fort Liberty soldier, is currently under investigation by the U.S. Army. It remains unclear whether charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
