Accident – Death – Obituary News : Agra: A nine-month expectant mother was left in a distressing situation after being refused admission to Mainpuri’s ‘100 Saiyya’ hospital due to a purported lack of blood in her body. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Mithlesh Devi, 32, was forced to give birth outside the hospital premises while her family provided assistance. Despite her advanced pregnancy, the hospital staff allegedly turned her away, insisting that she seek medical care elsewhere.

The woman’s husband, Anuj Kumar, a labourer by profession, expressed his dismay at the treatment they received. He claimed that the doctors and staff at the hospital not only denied them entry but also compelled them to leave the premises. “They asked us to go to another hospital,” he stated. In response to the incident, Chief Medical Officer Ramesh Chandra Gupta assured that an investigation is underway. He affirmed that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the mistreatment of the pregnant woman.

This disturbing incident has garnered widespread attention on social media, with a video capturing the woman’s plight going viral. In the footage, Mithlesh Devi can be seen lying on the ground outside the hospital, enduring the pains of childbirth with the support of her family. Despite the challenging circumstances, she successfully delivered a healthy baby girl.

Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of a pregnant woman being denied timely medical assistance in Uttar Pradesh. In a similar incident in January 2023, a woman in Hathras district was forced to give birth outside the district hospital after being turned away due to the absence of her blood test report. The recurring cases of negligence towards expectant mothers highlight the urgent need for improved healthcare services and compassionate treatment for pregnant women in the region.

As the authorities launch an investigation into the Mainpuri incident, it is imperative to address the systemic issues that lead to such distressing outcomes for pregnant women. The right to timely and quality healthcare is a fundamental human right that must be upheld for all individuals, especially expectant mothers in vulnerable situations. The accountability of healthcare providers and the implementation of stringent measures to prevent such incidents are crucial steps towards ensuring the well-being and safety of pregnant women in Uttar Pradesh..
