A tragic incident occurred at a wood plant adjacent and to the southwest of International Paper on Highway 3 in Warren County, resulting in the untimely death of a 20-year-old man. The young worker, identified as Karl Merritt II, collapsed while on duty yesterday.

Despite efforts to revive him, the man was pronounced deceased by Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess. According to Mississippi law, in cases of on-site deaths, the body is sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. Initial investigations suggest no foul play or negligence on the part of the employer.
