Amtrak has announced that power has been restored on one track between New York and Newark, allowing for limited travel after repairs were made to an overhead wire issue on Wednesday afternoon.
Although NJ Transit has resumed service with very limited westbound trains from New York Penn Station, the Raritan Valley Line remains suspended. Cross honoring is still in effect.
Commuters should anticipate delays and cancellations due to crew availability and displaced equipment resulting from the wire problem.
MORRISTOWN — A 4-year-old child has reported being sexually assaulted by a man at George Gramby Memorial Park.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the suspect as 56-year-old John Dowd, a homeless individual known to frequent Morristown. The alleged assault occurred on May 9, with Dowd apprehended by authorities and formally charged on May 15.
A former 57-year-old caseworker for the New Jersey Department of Children and Family Services, Trent Collier of Kearny, has pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to charges involving child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.
Collier, who was employed by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, was stopped by police at Newark Liberty International Airport on Sept. 28, 2021, leading to his guilty plea for possession and transportation of child pornography.

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP — The mystery of the stolen American flags from a Monmouth County cemetery has been resolved.
Commander Gary Crawford of American Legion #346 in Neptune Township disclosed that flags were placed in six cemeteries on Sunday, only to discover that 20 flags had been removed from graves at Mount Prospect Cemetery in Neptune Township between Sunday and Monday.
