Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a recent development, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has identified another set of human remains recovered at the former residence of notorious Indiana serial killer Herb Baumeister. The remains, originally found in 1996 at Fox Hollow Farm in Westfield, have been identified as belonging to Jeffrey Jones.

Jeffrey Jones is the third individual to have been identified from the remains discovered on the property, following the identification of Allen Livingston last year. Livingston, who went missing in 1993, was one of the victims believed to have been lured to Baumeister’s home before meeting a tragic fate.

Fox Hollow Farm, once owned by Baumeister, was the site where he allegedly targeted gay men in the mid-80s and mid-90s, leading to a series of gruesome murders. The investigation into Baumeister’s crimes has unearthed more than 10,000 pieces of remains, including bones, fragments, and body parts, with a total of 12 known victims identified so far.

Forensic Genetic Genealogy Investigation

The identification of Jeffrey Jones’ remains was made possible through an extensive forensic genetic genealogy investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office in collaboration with the FBI. Jones, a Fillmore resident reported missing in August 1993, has now been given closure thanks to the diligent work of the investigative team.

Despite the challenges posed by the condition of the remains, which were burnt and crushed, investigators remain committed to solving the case. Special recognition was given to the FBI, Indiana State Police Laboratory, Dr. Krista Latham of the Biology & Anthropology Department at the University of Indianapolis, and DNA experts from Othram Laboratory for their invaluable contributions to the investigation.

Continued Investigation and DNA Profiling

With four unidentified DNA profiles still awaiting identification, the investigation is far from over. The remaining profiles will be sent to the FBI for further genetic genealogy analysis, in the hope of bringing closure to the families of those still unidentified victims.

The initial discovery of the remains in 1996 came about when Baumeister’s son stumbled upon bones on the family’s 18-acre estate, triggering a chain of events that ultimately led to the exposure of Baumeister’s heinous crimes. Baumeister himself passed away shortly after the discovery, leaving behind a legacy of horror and mystery.

As the investigation into Herb Baumeister’s crimes continues, the dedication and expertise of the investigative team remain unwavering, determined to bring justice to all those affected by his actions.
