In a swift series of operations spanning five days, the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) successfully apprehended three murder suspects in Austin, Texas. The arrests were made in response to a request for assistance from the Austin Police Department, who were investigating a homicide case.

The Austin Police Department reached out to the LSFTF for help in locating and apprehending the suspects involved in the fatal shooting that took place on April 28 in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive. Despite efforts to save the victim, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Details of the Arrests

The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Jairo Velasquez-Lopez, 20-year-old Giovany Perdomo (also known as Pero), and 32-year-old Nixon Marquez-Martinez, were captured at different locations across Austin. Velasquez-Lopez, believed to be the getaway driver, was taken into custody on May 9. Perdomo, the alleged shooter, was arrested on May 13, while Marquez-Martinez, suspected of ordering the murder, was apprehended on May 14. Notably, Marquez-Martinez had an additional administrative warrant from the Department of Homeland Security.

Following their arrests, all three men were transported to the Travis County Jail. The Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that the suspects are Honduran immigrants.

Collaborative Efforts and Impact

This case marks the 18th homicide investigation in Austin this year, as reported by the Austin Police Department. The LSFTF in Austin is comprised of members from various local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Austin Police Department-Tactical Intelligence Unit, Georgetown and Round Rock Police Departments, several county sheriff’s offices, the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Texas Department of Criminal Justice OIG, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, and U.S. DHS/Homeland Security Investigations.

The collaborative efforts of the LSFTF and the Austin Police Department have led to the swift apprehension of the murder suspects, bringing justice to the victim and closure to their loved ones.
